A couple of months ago, we met Grace Lombardo when she booked into some sessions at Rathbone Boxing Club. We were really impressed by her spirit, her personality, and her general aura; we immediately sensed that she was something special. We discovered this Chicagoan was in London promoting GHD’s “Ink on Pink” Campaign, and then we learned about about her courageous battle against breast cancer.
Grace is truly an inspiration. In her honour, we are holding a Fundraiser on the 24th of October to support Breast Cancer Awareness. As a boxing club that strives to be a community stronghold, we are all about making a difference. When one of our boxers captivates us, we are that much more motivated to support a cause that supports our fighter. October is about Grace.
On Thursday, the 24th of October, we are going to screen GRACE, a documentary directed/produced by Rachel Pikelny, also a breast cancer survivor, who has kindly waived any fees to support our fundraising efforts.
We will start the evening by toasting Grace and Rachel with a glass of prosecco. Then, we'll screen the short documentary during which time we'll pass around a bowl of popcorn. Afterwards, Grace will Skype in for a Q&A session. We've also invited a representative from Breast Cancer Now, Grace's charity of choice, to join us.
