Boxing is an exhilarating sport to learn, to practice, and to hone. It cultivates physical and mental fitness. It is NOT your best means of self-defence, however. Krav Maga is. We, at Rathbone Boxing Club, would like to invite you to complement your boxing training with self-defence skills.
Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and its extreme efficiency. It was derived from the street-fighting experience of Hungarian-Israeli martial artist Imi Lichtenfeld, who made use of his training as a boxer and wrestler.
Following on from our popular Krav Maga Masterclass and based on interest, we would like to propose a follow-on weekly workshop series.
Training each week would cover the following topics:
WEEK 1
'General Weapons Workshop'
Given the rise in weapons usage we have decided to address this with a general weapon defence workshop that is designed to help you understand knife, stick or gun threats ( and attacks) and what to do should you be unfortunate enough to be involved in this situation.
WEEK 2
'Knife Defence Workshop'
The workshop is designed to help you understand and recognise a knife threat, or attack that could be about to happen (or is happening) and if it does what to do to increase your chance of survival.
WEEK 3
' Ground Survival Workshop'
Given that around 90% of attacks whether sexual or otherwise can end up on the ground, we have decided to address this within our ground survival workshop. On this course we will address what happens if you find yourself on the ground, from the perspective of defending, or attacking to buy time to get up and escape as quickly as possible.
WEEK 4
'Chokes and Grabs'
On this we will cover a range of different topics, emphasising on controlling the distance in a dangerous situation and what to do when things go wrong. We work with space keeping you in your comfort zone and then take that space away from you by closing the distance. We will also look at blindsided attacks (attacks from behind).
We can't wait to learn more so why not join us! For your own sense of security, can you afford not to?
